The problem in such an construction is that each spindle of the weir-slide has to be designed for the full torque. This usage is very untypical for a standard actuator. We are using different types form 1 to 3 tread-spindles to move the weir slide. A weir-slide is a big valve plate, which runs in two selector shaft guides. This system got a long regulating time form one to twenty minutes. The ventilated engines, which are used, are very suitable for this system. If you want to give your engine the right dimensions you have to keep in view, that there is enough power to lift the maximum of the plate-weight, including the friction by the maximum of the fall.
